Grow the Movement

We’re working on building a network of volunteers and organizations who will help us Stop The AI Race. The best way to be involved is to help us build this network.

  1. Spread the word to your friends
    • Ask them to join the private Partiful/Luma event
    • Ask them to invite their friends

  2. Get an org you’re connected to involved
    • See if they’ll endorse or join the protest
    • Present to leadership or the whole group to explain why

  3. Host a house party
    • Some fun event ideas that would relate to STAIR
    • Give out general info about the movement and the race
    • Tell people about the Nov. 14 protest
    • Suggest to people they host their own house party

  4. Host a ‘call your reps’ party
    • Everyone calls 2 Senators and their House Rep
    • Give a brief presentation on how to make phone calls effective

  5. Host a screening of an AI Safety video/documentary
    • Have discussion after
    • Ask people to do their own screening

  6. Banner drop
    • Make/borrow a STAIR banner that says “Stop The AI Race – Nov 14”
    • Hold it over an overpass (detailed instructions available)

  7. Make a social media post
    • Say you’re going to the Nov 14 protest or the school walkout on Oct 20
    • Post pictures of yourself at a protest

  8. Put up posters
    • Make a poster for the Nov 14 protest, or use one we already made (ask Signal / Discord for our latest one)
    • Put up the posters with friends or other STAIR members

  9. Give out flyers
    • Get our latest flyer designs (on Signal / Discord)
    • Go out to the Ferry Building to distribute them on a Saturday 10am, or alternatively give them out at Dolores Park in SF / on Campus in Berkeley
